Looking back;

American Indian Jim Thorpe's Talent lit up the 1912 Olympic Games in Stockholm, Sweden, The American won the decathlon and pentathlon gold medals to emerge as the greatest athlete in the world. However, he had to endure the ignominy of being stripped of his honours after it was discovered that he had violated the strict amateur norms prevalent at that time. " Rules are like road rollers, they flatten any one in front," he had said ruefully then. Many years later, Thorpe was reinstated but then the damage had been done.
