Games were held from 27th April to 31st October 1908 None of the countries Issued any Stamp.
Michael Joseph Bulger was the Chief Medical Officer for the Marathon at
the London Olympic Games in 1908 - Bulger was involved in the
disqualification of the Italian runner Dorando Pietri ( who entered the stadium first, stumbled and fell five times before he was helped by Chief Medical Officer) for being aided
across the finish line and appears in an Italian postage stamp (on the
right) issued to mark the 100th anniversary of this moment in Olympic
athletic history.
Remembering note:
The Distance of the Marthon race was readjusted to 42 kilometers and 195 meters, with the last 195 meters being added on to justify the route from Windsor Castle to the royal box in the London stadium, from the 1924 Games onwards, this distance become the official distance for Marathon races.
