VII Olympic Games 1920, Antwerp,Belgium.
The 1920 Summer Olympics, officially known as the Games of the VII Olympiad, were an international multi-sports event in 1920 in Antwerp, Belgium The 1920 Games were awarded to Antwerp to honor the people of that city after the suffering they endured during World War I. The initial choice for the site of the Games had been Budapest Hungary. Though the majority of events took place in Belgium, there was a single sailing event which took place in Dutch waters and as such, the games were officially in both countries.
Remembering Note:
These Olympics were the first in which the Olympic Oath was voiced, the first in which doves were released to symbolize peace, and the first in which the Olympic Flag was flown.Looking back;
After the Antwerp Games the first Olympic flag went missing, so they had to make a replacement for the 1924 games.
That was in use until the 1988 games. By then it had become quite 'old
and frail', so another replacement was made for the 1992 games.
As for the missing 1920 flag, it was actually stolen as a souvenir (by
an American athlete) who at long last returned it in person to
the IOC a few years ago the Sydney 2000 games to be held. The
ex-athlete wasn't punished, if only because he's too old to sit out any
time in jail
